The history of the Warsaw School of Economics begins in 1906. Warsaw was formally on the territory of the Russian Empire and it was to the tsar administration to authorize establishment of the Private Courses of Commerce for Men – as the school was known at that time.

Description:
Doctoral Programme in Economics, Finance and Management is organized within the Collegium of World Economy of the Warsaw School of Economics. It was developed based on the best European practices, utilizing the benefit of almost 110 years of SGH’s experience in PhD education as well as cooperation within a vast international network of our partner universities of economics and management and business schools.

Each student will take part in at least 262 hours of obligatory coursework organized into following blocks:

    specialization subjects
    research methodology
    skills building
    attitudes building

INTERNATIONAL TOURISM, HOTEL INDUSTRY AND LEISURE SERVICES (MA)

The second-cycle studies in International Tourism, Hotel Industry and Leisure Services at the Warsaw School of Economics aim to equip students with appropriate knowledge and skills for business activities in the area of tourism and leisure services.

Graduates of the major may pursue career in hotel industry, travel agencies, entities rendering recreation and entertainment services, and in other enterprises operating in the tourist market environment. They may also pursue career in public administration institutions, NGOs, and entities specializing in consultancy, tourist market research and leisure services research. The studies also prepare students to establish their own businesses and to take up the third-cycle studies.

The second-cycle studies in International Business provide students with deep knowledge of management in international business and complementary disciplines enabling them to undertake positions of specialists and managers at medium and higher ranks, as well as advisors and consultants in enterprises functioning on international market. The studies also prepare students to establish their own businesses on international markets as well as to further educate themselves at doctoral studies (PhD).

The second-cycle studies in Global Business, Finance and Governance at the Warsaw School of Economics provide an advanced Master’s degree curriculum centred on the current, fast changing environment of international cooperation, finance and marketing. The program builds on the Bachelor’s course by enhancing the analytical skills acquired there and adding an array of topics particularly relevant for handling managerial challenges in international trade and cooperation.

As a result, the graduates will gain a deep and extensive understanding of the nature and functioning of international business and governance. They would be equipped to perform advanced analytical tasks involving corporate finances, logistics, sales and marketing and as such would be able to take up senior analytical posts in corporations as well as governmental and non-governmental units. The acquired managerial skills will allow them to pursue a career as managers or entrepreneurs in various international and organizational settings. The program’s curriculum is also designed to facilitate further education in doctoral programs.

The second-cycle studies in Finance and Accounting at the Warsaw School of Economics provide finance oriented knowledge which enlarges the knowledge of financial management of business entities, including financial institutions, with particular interest in the determinants of managerial decisions made on the basis of results of financial analyses and research. The studies also provide specialist knowledge giving good basis to exercise professional work and to continue further education.

The studies develop competencies that enable, after having done internship, work as an expert or manager in a given field of finance or accounting or business self-employment as well as obtaining certified/licensed qualifications in Poland and abroad. The studies also prepare students to take up the third-cycle studies.
